Well, suit yourselves ladies. But if my daughter brought this guy home, I'd try to gently persuade her to marry the stuffy religious guy.KC and Michelle Woolfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12559392779021127591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6973295680495949287.post-75361678210136304742011-08-13T22:00:53.000-07:002011-08-13T22:00:53.000-07:00mr rochester didn't treat jane like crap.. He seemed arrogant and pushy to me too- to say the least. So I guess she had two bad options? I still think Jane could have done better than Mr. Rochester though.KC and Michelle Woolfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12559392779021127591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6973295680495949287.post-1161842834619005402011-06-12T21:26:15.628-07:002011-06-12T21:26:15.628-07:00Mr. Rochester did not marry Bertha for her money; ...Mr. Rochester did not marry Bertha for her money; in the book he explains to Jane that the mercenary motives of his father and brother were kept secret from him. He married her because she excited him and he felt he won out over all her other admirers. He locked Bertha in the attic like an animal because she needed restraint due to her violent propensities, and she was actually running back and forth on all fours when Jane first saw him. Bertha got better treatment at Thornfield Hall than she would have received at an insane asylum. Also, Jane did not refuse St. John due to prejudice, which is deciding about something before knowing the facts. She knew St. John's coldness well, and rejected him because of that, not to mention the fact that she still loved Rochester.theresahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14047324483221276539noreply@blogger.com
