Today I took Dane and my niece, Prestly, to Antelope Island. We saw some Rudy Ducks, Wilson's Phalaropes, Long-billed Dowitchers, and Short-billed Dowitchers, along with a bunch of water fouls I've already seen. . I took the Wilson's snipe off the list, because I'm pretty sure what I thought was a snipe last month was really a dowitcher.
I spoke with a patient of mine this week who is an avid birdwatcher and found out he gives tours out at Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, and I plan on going out there sometime this month. I also asked him what makes for a respectable life list. He's seen 270, and says my 120 (at the time) is "not bad for a beginner".
